Grandma's Old Fashioned Lemonade
Grandma has a large lemon tree in her backyard. Every summer she makes her famous "Old Fashioned Lemonade". When we moved into our current home, I planted a lemon tree. That tree is as tall as Grandma's now. I make fresh lemonade for my family each summer, with the same recipe that Grandma uses. I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as we do! ~Kirstyn
3/4 cup sugar 1 cup fresh lemon juice 5 cups water sliced lemon rind
In small saucepan, stir together 1 cup water, 3/4 cup sugar and the rind of 4 lemons. Place over low heat and stir until sugar is dissolved. Bring to a slow boil and boil slowly or simmer for 7 minutes, to make syrup. In pitcher, mix 1 cup lemon juice with 4 cups water. Add the syrup and stir. Serve over ice. Notes: To make slices of lemon rind, slice thin layers of the skin of the lemon (not the white part) and place in pan with sugar and water.
